| Version 1.028 - Citation :
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to introduce version 1.028 of ROF to you. We are excited and proud that a long promised pre-order, which we announced way back in February, has finally materialized in the form of a new aircraft along with new in-game features. That's why this version is so important; much of it was created with your early support and your desire to see it through. Thank you for your trust and support and thanks to the team, that trust will soon be experienced as the Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 on your PC, the first floatplane in our project.
You can use the W.12 in Quick Mission mode or when creating single player missions or in multiplayer. Unfortunately, the plane was not used on rivers, so we cannot add it into the Career yet. He gets there only with the release of the Channel Map, which you will also see on your PC in the not too distant future. As we wrote in the previous post, we have created several hydro bases with new facilities and some new logic for taking off from and landing on water.
It is important to note that these innovations have changed the format of ROF missions; it will add new aspects for the use of aircraft on the water. It is a huge change in the project, even if it is hidden from your eyes. Changing the format of missions means that old tracks will not play and all missions should be re-saved to work correctly. We understand that this is an uncomfortable step now, but it is a necessary step on the journey to achieve improvements in the overall game design.
We also hope that you will like another change we have made. We have created a new loading screen for missions. Those involved in the project from the early days may remember that we had to give up the big, beautiful images of aircraft on the loading screen. These images were using big amounts of memory, which kept ROF from using this memory for much more important combat flight simulator things. So, we reduced the resolution of the images and you immediately responded to this by writing to us. We do not believe this is a minor point, it is important, so we re-designed the screen so that the image of the plane takes up less space on the screen, but now looks sharper and is less pixelated.
Another new important feature is that now all planes, not just the new seaplane will interact with the water’s surface in a more realistic manner. It doesn’t matter if you touch water with a wheel or wing or make an emergency landing after losing the landing gear. This is something completely new for us and something we are very proud of.
As always, a full list of changes can be found on our forum. | |
